Nes Ammim
Nes Ammim, located in the North of Israel, between the cities of Acco and Nahariya, is an ecumenical Christian village. It was founded by Christians from the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany at the beginning of the 1960s, in recognition of the almost 2,000-years-old alienation between Christians and Jews, and hope for a new era of understanding after the atrocities of the Shoah. Since its foundation hundreds of (mainly young) people have lived there. Based on the support of an international movement, Nes Ammim aims to give a ‘sign of the nations’ (name derived from Isaiah 11.10), a sign of reconciliation and solidarity towards Israel. In addition, thevillage is a model of a Christian living, working and learning community.
